New Member Policy:
The Encore Winds is constantly seeking and encouraging new membership. Many of the players are retirees, students, amateurs and music teachers throughout the region. Encore expects a commitment to attend the 5 rehearsals prior to each concert in addition to the dress rehearsal.
In order to maintain the standards of Encore, it is expected that a prospective member be heard by the section leader and, if possible, the director. The director may ask players to play. If a prospective player
has obvious credentials, the hearing may be unnecessary.
Committed high school students should be recommended by their band director, and encouraged to expand their musical horizons by performing alongside seasoned players.
Exuberant, Spry, Dynamic, High-Energy, Smart describe the season’s final concert! On May 18th, put your toe-tappers on because at 8pm Encore Winds will end a brilliant season of Broadway favorites with selections from West Side Story, Mr. Holland’s Opus, the Guadalcanal March from “Victory at Sea”, and the lively, energetic Puszta Four Gypsy Dances by Jan Van der Roost. Encore Winds, conducted by Tom Riccobono, in their final concert of the season is also joined by returning special guest artist and local favorite, Lynne Church, singing selections from Guys and Dolls, and the Winner of the 2013 Encore Young Artist Competition; Krista Cole. The season’s final concert will be performed at The First Congregational Church located at the base of Old Mission Peninsula with a dessert reception at 7pm and music at 8pm.
